Installation Method of Tape for Wire Saw Machines
Look! This 55kW Power Save Master wire saw machine is cutting stones. The rope inlaid with diamond beads is looped around the large aluminum wheel of the wire saw machine. Through the rapid rotation of the large aluminum wheel, the Diamond Wire Saw is driven to cut stones at a linear speed of 35 meters per second. It's strange that the diamond wire saw can cut stones, but why is the aluminum wheel of the wire saw machine intact? You know, aluminum is a very soft material, and its hardness is even lower than that of stones. The answer is that there is a tape between the diamond wire saw and the groove of the aluminum disc. This tape plays an important role. It can not only increase the friction to make the cutting force greater but also protect the aluminum wheel from being cut by the diamond wire saw. So, how is this tape installed?
Hello, everyone. I'm Oliver Mo, who manufactures and sells wire saws. In this video, I'll share how to correctly install the tape of a wire saw machine. For the choice of the tape, whether to use polyurethane or rubber tape, please watch the video "Tape for Wire Saw Machines". In this video, I'll demonstrate how to install the rubber tape on the guide wheel. The installation method of the tape on the large aluminum wheel is the same as that on the guide wheel.
Tools Needed
The tools needed are an Install tool for tape and scissors.

Installation Steps
Position the tape: Align the middle of one end of the new tape with the middle of the annular groove of the flywheel.
Preliminary fixation: Use the Install tool for tape to press the tape into the groove and make sure the position is correct.
Press in the tape: Use the Install tool for tape to press the tape into the groove, starting from the middle and then moving to both sides. If you find that the tape doesn't fit the groove perfectly, pull out the non - fitting part of the tape and press it again following the order of middle first and then both sides.
Cut to size: When you're almost done with the installation, measure the required length, cut off the excess tape with scissors, and press the remaining part into the groove until the tape is completely pressed in to form a closed ring.
Check the fit: Make sure the tape fits the groove perfectly without any bulges or looseness.
It should be noted that this time we're demonstrating the installation of the tape on a new aluminum wheel. If you're installing the tape for the second time in a quarry, you need to remove the worn - out tape first and then start the installation.
